Liqufied Petroleum Gas , LPG , is the mix of butane and propane and it is a common fuel in our country. It is mostly produced crude oil but it can be also produced from natural gas. In it's natural state LPG is scentless and doesn't have poisonous features.That's why before it is used for consumption it is given smell artificially.That way leakeges are prevented. It is more intensive than the air that helps it to be easily liquefied under pressure.

LPG is produced in two different ways generally:

1. LPG that contains %100 propane gas. This LPG has better characteristics and more expensive.
2. LPG that is the mixture of propane and butane in certain ratios and this LPG is cheaper.

In our country LPG is sold in three other ways to the consumers:

• In cylinders
• Autogas
• Bulk

LPG that is sold as autogas and in cylinders consists of %30 propane and %70 butane. LPG that is sold as bulk should consist of commercially pure propane.
In Turkey LPG in cylinders is used as cylinders of 2 kg picnic type , cylinders of 12 kg house type , cylinders of 45 kg industrial type.
This way in all industrial enterprises in different sectors and in private or public enterprises or in houses LPG is used in several different ways.
